Camping spots every beginner should try

Camping is a great way to spend a day outdoors and enjoy some fresh air. Here are three accessible Hong Kong campsites that are suitable for beginners. Always check the latest official opening information and campsite rules before setting out.

Hok Tau Campsite, Fanling

Set near Hok Tau Reservoir, this quiet campsite has toilets and shower facilities. The nearby reservoir walk also makes it a convenient choice for a relaxed first camping trip.

Getting there: Take green minibus 52B from Fanling MTR station to Hok Tau Village, then walk along Hok Tau Road towards the reservoir for about 15 minutes.

Wong Shek Campsite, Sai Kung

Located near Wong Shek Pier, this small campsite has sea views and nearby barbecue facilities. The pier and surrounding trails offer plenty to explore during the day.

Getting there: Take bus 94 from Sai Kung, or bus 96R from Diamond Hill on Sundays and public holidays, to Wong Shek Pier. Follow the signs uphill for about five minutes.

Rotary Park Campsite, Tsuen Wan

This small campsite near Tai Mo Shan has a nearby car park, barbecue facilities and access to the Rotary Park Nature Trail and Tsuen Kam Nature Trail, making it a practical option for families.

Getting there: Take bus 51 from Nina Tower or Tsuen Wan MTR station and get off at Tai Mo Shan Country Park, then walk for about five minutes.
